    Join Let’s Move in Libraries and the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services for a week-long event celebrating the inspiring work of libraries who spearhead StoryWalk® programs – promoting literacy, reading, health, exercise, and movement in communities and neighborhoods across the United States and the world. The 2nd annual StoryWalk® Week will take place November 7-11, 2022. The presenters will talk about launching these collections for a small library and a large suburban children’s collection. They will highlight their experiences selecting, budgeting, cataloging, displaying, sustaining, and marketing their Library of Things. They will also share what has and hasn’t worked, and you’ll leave with strategies for making the right decisions for your community.

    As rights for transgender people continue to be challenged, libraries should be a welcoming place for the youth, adults, and colleagues in our communities. Join us to learn how to provide excellent internal and external customer service to transgender individuals at your library. 

    This interactive session will help participants reframe ideas around gender, give them best practices for serving trans customers, and end with developing strategies to make their libraries trans-inclusive.

    At the end of this one-hour webinar, participants will:

    • Build a foundation for fostering gender inclusivity at their library
    • Give empathetic and equitable service to all customers
    • Have knowledge of social and legal issues impacting transgender customers
    • Challenge assumptions and discuss ways to encourage inclusivity in language and action

    A workshop to discover how parliamentary procedure, also known as Robert’s Rules of Order, can assist with better meetings. Robert’s Rules of Order is a tool that will give trustees and library staff the knowledge and framework to conduct effective, fair and equable meetings. Attendees will:

    • Gain an understanding of Robert’s Rules of Order
    • Learn how to conduct more effective, fair and equable meetings
    • Encourage respectful discussions and debates
    • Utilize time management to fulfill the business of the library

    Our presenter: Mr. Adrian Stratton, MBA, PRP, CP is a member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and the American Institute of Parliamentarians. An active parliamentarian, Mr. Stratton advises organizations on procedure and governance and has conducted workshops for diverse participants on fundamental issues impacting contemporary deliberative participation. His ideas on parliamentary law have been published in several journals including the National Parliamentarian and the Parliamentary Journal. Mr. Stratton currently serves as President of the New York Association of Parliamentarians and was recently named the parliamentarian for the American Library Association: https://www.ala.org/news/press-releases/2022/04/stratton-named-ala-parliamentarian
